Lycoming starter ring gear and support assembly, part number LW-16064. WHAT IT IS The support assembly (commonly called the flywheel) that carries the starter ring gear and bolts to the crankshaft flange. LW-16064 is the current Lycoming part number; the older number 72565 supersedes to it. TOOTH PITCH - READ THIS BEFORE BUYING LW-16064 is a 12/14 pitch assembly. This is listed in Lycoming Service Instruction No. 1141A, "Replacement of Worn Starter Ring Gears", dated 9 May 2014, Table 1 (certified parts). Ring gear pitch must match your starter. Confirm which pitch your engine and starter require before ordering. WHERE IT CAME OFF Removed from a Mooney M-20B, registration N74711, serial number 1711, on 17 August 2022. The removal tag is photographed and travels with the part. Lycoming SI 1141A applies to all Lycoming direct drive engines, so this part number is not confined to one airframe - but see the condition note below: what it may be installed on is your mechanic's determination, not mine. CONDITION: AR - As Removed. This part is sold As Removed. It has not been inspected, tested, or certified, and no airworthiness determination of any kind is made or implied by the seller. The seller is not a Production Approval Holder and cannot certify airworthiness. Suitability for any specific aircraft is a determination for a certificated mechanic, made from the part in hand and the applicable approved data. DOCUMENTATION: a handwritten removal tag only. The tag naming the aircraft, registration, serial number and removal date is photographed and included. There is no FAA Form 8130-3, no logbook entry and no work order. WHAT THE PHOTOGRAPHS SHOW Every face, the ring gear teeth, the bolt holes, the timing marks and the removal tag. Inspect them. If you want a photograph of anything specific - a particular tooth, the mounting face, the bolt hole bores - ask and I will take it.
