I had them on my 1967 C172.  The previous owner had them on the 172 for many many years without issues, but one year the A&P I hired to do annual made me replace them with original style wingtips as they were not OE on my 172.

So I did.

As seen in the photo, there is a fissure crack by the trailing edge. It has been there when I purchased my 172 many years ago.
