UPGRADED IN 1959 TO A TRICYCLE GEAR CONFIGURATION, THEN A BIGGER WING AND 260 H.P. IN 1964, THEN 300 H.P. AND A SPEED SLOPED WINDSHIELD IN 1967 WITH THE VIKING, THEN 1970 BROUGHT THE 17-30A MODEL “SUPER VIKING”, WITH 3 BLADE PROP.

BUT JUST LIKE IT’S 300 H.P. COMPETITION THE BEECHCRAFT BONANZA, EVERY MODEL YEAR BROUGHT IMPROVEMENTS TO THE SUPER VIKING.

A NEW DASH LAYOUT WITH A TALL CENTER STACK FOR MODERN RADIOS AND A PERFECT 6 PACK GUAGE LAYOUT CAME ALONG IN 1973!

NEW LOWBACK, COMFORTABLE CAR-LIKE BUCKET SEATS WITH ADJUSTABLE HEADRESTS IN 1976.

ALSO IN 1976, THE COWLING WAS REVISED TO BE SLEEKER, AND A FRONT NOSEGEAR DOOR WAS ADDED FOR THE FIRST TIME!

LARGE BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT WITH LOCKABLE SEPERATE OUTSIDE DOOR.

THIS PILOT OF THIS AIRPLANE HAD A LITTLE “OFF TAXIWAY” EXPERIENCE WHERE HE GOT DISTRACTED AND  CLIPPED A TAXIWAY LIGHT ON HIS WAY TO THE RUNUP PAD, THEN STEERED IT BACK STRAIGHT ONTO THE TAXIWAY.

THE ENGINE NEVER MISSED A BEAT, BUT HE WAS SHAKEN UP A BIT, SO HE TAXIED THE AIRPLANE BACK TO HIS HANGER AND NEVER SAID A WORD TO ANYONE AT THE AIRPORT!

RATHER THAN REPAIR THE AIRPLANE, THE OWNER/PILOT DECIDED IT WAS TIME TO HANG UP HIS SPURS.

YOU CAN SEE THE DAMAGE TO THE ONE PROP BLADE ON THE HARTZELL 3 BLADE PROP.

THE BLADE IS NOT BENT BACKWARD AS IT WOULD BE IF IT TOUCHED THE GROUND, BUT THERE IS A DECIDED “BITE” OUT OF THIS ONE BLADE ONLY FROM CLIPPING THE HEAD OFF THE LIGHT.

NEITHER OF THE OTHER BLADES SUSTAINED DAMAGE, JUST THIS ONE BLADE.

AND THAT IS THE ONLY DAMAGE TO THIS ENTIRE AIRPLANE!!

NO AIRFRAME DAMAGE AT ALL!

FROM SPINNER TO TAIL-LIGHT, THIS AIRPLANE IS UNDAMAGED!!

THE EXTERIOR STRIPES ARE MAROON AND CINNAMON, AND THE SOFT CLOTH INTERIOR IS A STRIKING CINNAMON!

THE SUPER VIKINGS ALL HAD SIMPLE AUTOPILOTS, BUT THE FACTORY CENTURY II WAS LITTLE MORE THAN A WING LEVELOR, AND LIKE OTHER ELECTRONICS DESIGNED IN THE 60’S AND BUILT IN THE 70’S, RELIABILITY TODAY IS VERY SPOTTY!

THIS AIRCRAFT HAS BEEN UPDATED TO THE DECADES NEWER STEC 30 SYSTEM, WHICH PROVIDES ALTITUDE HOLD, WING LEVELING AND HEADING HOLD IN A RATE BASED, ALL ELECTRIC SYSTEM!

THE STEC IS A FAR SUPERIOR AUTOPILOT TO THAT FOUND IN 95% OF SUPER VIKINGS, AND CAN BE COUPLED TO THE MODERN GLASS PANEL GARMIN OR ASPEN GLASS PANEL DISPLAYS IF DESIRED.

THIS AIRCRAFT ALSO IS EQUIPPED FOR SERIOUS IFR FLIGHT, WITH A SLAVED NSD-360 HSI SYSTEM AND A GARMIN 430 WAAS NAV/COM/GPS MOVING MAP!

THESE CHECKS ARE EASY TO DO WHEN YOU REMOVE THE PROP FOR REPAIR.

THE IMPACT WAS NOT A STOPPAGE BY HITTING THE GROUND OR STOPPING THE ENGINE, SO NO ISSUES WOULD BE EXPECTED.
