THE  SIERRA IS A 200 H.P. RETRACTABLE CROSS-COUNTRY CRUISER, WITH DESIREABLE FEATURES UNMATCHED IN IT'S CLASS !!

MANY PEOPLE TRY TO COMPARE THE SIERRA TO THE SOMEWHAT SIMILAR PIPER ARROW, BUT THE BEECH HAS DESIRABLE FEATURES THE PIPER CAN'T MATCH:

FULL SIZED DOORS ON BOTH SIDES !!  WHY PIPER NEVER OFFERED THIS IS A MYSTERY.  THE CONVENIENCE AND SAFETY OF HAVING A REAL PILOT SIDE DOOR IN ADDITION TO THE RIGHT SIDE DOOR IS PRICELESS !!

ONE PIECE "SPEED SLOPE" WINDSHIELD, JUST LIKE THE BONANZA, GIVES AMAZING FORWARD VISIBILITY WITH NO SIGHTLINE RESTRICTIONS

THE BEST GENERAL AVIATION DASH LAYOUT, BAR NONE !!

FAR BETTER DASH THAN A BONANZA, AND CLEANER THAN A PIPER, WITH A NICELY PLACED THROTTLE/PROP/MIXTURE QUADRANT.

DUAL TOE BRAKES

THE B-24 VERSION OF THE SIERRA, LIKE THIS ONE, BROUGHT LOADS OF SMALL IMPROVEMENTS AND UPGRADES, AND ONE BIG ONE !!

THE REAR BAGGAGE DOOR, ON THE PILOT'S SIDE, WAS ENLARGED, THE REASON BEING THAT BEECH STARTED OFFERING THIS AIRPLANE WITH 2 SMALL "JUMP SEATS" IN THE BAGGAGE AREA, SO THE DOOR IS LARGE ENOUGH TO ALLOW FOR PEOPLE TO GET THROUGH IT.

LIKE MOST PEOPLE, THE ORIGINAL BUYER OF THIS AIRPLANE DID NOT ORDER THE 2 REAR SEATS, BUT THE LARGE DOOR IS THERE ANYWAY, AND IS GREAT FOR LOADING CARGO.  IN FACT, SINCE THE REAR SEATS ARE REMOVABLE EASILY, THERE IS QUITE A BIT OF AVAILABLE SPACE BACK THERE, SO I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE USE THESE LATER SIERRAS LIKE A FASTER, MORE ECONOMICAL CHEROKEE 6 !!

THIS PARTICULAR B-24 SIERRA IS VERY NICE !!

COMPLETE STRIP AND REPAINT IN 2004, ALLOVER WHITE WITH MING BLUE AND LAS VEGAS GOLD STRIPES

THE TAN INTERIOR IS EVEN NEWER, AND IS REALLY PRETTY !!

THIS AIRPLANE SUFFERED DAMAGE WHEN THE ENGINE COUGHED AND FAILED ON TAKE-OFF DUE TO A FUEL DELIVERY PROBLEM (THE NTSB DID NOT GO TO THE SCENE, SINCE THERE WERE NO INJURIES, BUT THE POSSIBILITIES INCLUDE FUEL SELECTOR IN BETWEEN TANKS, WATER IN THE FUEL TANK, OR EMPTY TANK SELECTED.

THE AIRCRAFT LANDED BACK ON THE RUNWAY, BUT WITH IT'S GEAR RETRACTED (IF HE COULD GET BACK ON THE RUNWAY AFTER THE ENGINE QUIT, I SAY HE RETRACTED THE GEAR TOO SOON)

LUCKILY HE WAS AT ROTATION SPEED, SO THE DAMAGES WERE FAIRLY MINOR, AND PREDICTABLE.

THE ONLY BIT OF EXTRA BAD LUCK IS THAT AS THE AIRPLANE WAS SKIDDING ON THE PROP AND THE STEPS, THE LEFT STEP FAILED, ALLOWING THE LEFT WINGTIP TO DRAG.  WITH THE EXTRA DRAG ON THE LEFT SIDE, THE AIRPLANE ANGLED TO THE LEFT SLIGHTLY, AND HIT A RUNWAY LIGHT WITH THE OUTBOARD LEFT WING LEADING EDGE.

THE DAMAGE TO THE BELLY ITSELF IS, ALMOST AMAZINGLY, ALMOST NON-EXISTENT.

AS I SAID, THE STEPS SUPPORTED THE WEIGHT FOR MUCH OF THE SKID, KEEPING THE BELLY UP.

THE 3 BLADE MCCAULEY PROP, WHICH UNFORTUNATELY CURLED BACK WHEN IT HIT, ACTED AS TWIN RUNNERS UP FRONT.

WHEN THE LEFT STEP FINALLY BROKE OFF, (NO FUSELAGE DAMAGE, IT IS JUST THE STEP SHAFT), THE LEFT INBOARD FLAP HANGER BRACKET, ON BOTH THE WING AND THE FLAP, GOT SCRAPED.

THE FLAP SKINS THEMSELVES WERE NOT HURT, AS THEY WERE UP FOR TAKEOFF.

EVENTUALLY THE OTHER STEP FAILED, WHICH CHANGED THE ANGLE SOMEWHAT, WHICH ALLOWED THE FRON OF THE NOSE FORK TO BE SCRAPED ON THE GROUND, THE ADF ANTENNA TO BE SCRAPED SOMEWHAT, AND AN ACCESS PANEL ON THE MID BELLY TO GET SCRAPED AS WELL.

THE ONLY SKIN DAMAGE TO THE BELLY ITSELF IS THE TINY AREA AROUND THAT ACCESS PANEL.  VERY REPAIRABLE, OF COURSE.

THATS IT !!

THE LEFT WING IS REPAIRABLE, OF COURSE, OR REPLACEMENTS ARE AROUND FOR $3,000 OR LESS, FROM US OR OTHERS

THE LYCOMING FUEL INJECTED 200 H.P. ENGINE HAD A PROP STRIKE, AND WAS REMOVED FROM THE ENGINE MOUNT WITH ALL IT'S ACCESSORIES, AND IS NOT INCLUDED

THE 3 BLADE PROP HAS 3 BENT BLADES, BUT THE HUB IS INCLUDED, AND THE SPINNER AND BULKHEADS ARE GOOD

THE RIGHT WING IS UNDAMAGED, AS ARE THE LEFT AILERON, AND THE RIGHT AILERON TIP AND FLAP

EVEN THE STROBE LIGHTS ON BOTH TIPS ARE UNDAMAGED

THE NOSEGEAR TRUNION DOES NOT SHOW ANY SIGN OF CRACKING OR DAMAGE, AND THE ACTUATING MECHANISM SUFFERED NO DAMAGE, AS THE GEAR WAS FULLY RETRACTED THE WHOLE TIME

THE MAINS ARE ALSO PERFECT

NO ISSUES WITH THE FIREWALL, CABIN, GLASS OR ANY OF THE 3 DOORS

THE AFT TAILCONE IS UNDAMAGED, AS ARE THE TAIL FEATHERS

THIS IS A VERY NICE AIRFRAME, WITH VIRTUALLY NO FUSELAGE DAMAGE, AND REPAIRABLE OR INEXPENSIVELY REPLACEABLE LEFT WING DAMAGE

THE RADIO PANEL UNITS HAVE BEEN REMOVED, AS IS OUR CUSTOM, AND ARE NOT INCLUDED HERE.
