This item is a collection of vintage films concerning the North American P-51 Mustang, compiled onto one DVD.
"The Cadillac of the Sky", No fighter is more famous, and more completely represents Allied military aviation from the World War II era than the North American P-51 Mustang. Starting from its 120 day journey from drawing board to the sky, everything the Mustang did was faster, farther, and higher than anything else in the sky. "Flight Characteristics of the P-51 Airplane": (B&W, 30:10)
Produced to coincide with the introduction of the 'B' model of the P-51, this film demonstrates the features of the new Mustang, as well as preflight inspection, ground handling, aerial maneuvers, and normal and emergency landings. Also included is an in- depth discussion of the phenomenon of compressability, a major consideration among piston-powered fighters.
"Fight for the Sky": (B&W, 41:44)
The story of the allied air war in western europe, this film features fantastic footage of the P-38 and P-47, as well as the P-51.
"Air Attacks Against Italy": (B&W, 5:26)
A newsreel featuring P-51 and A-36 attacks on Italy. More great footage!
