These are Piper Style Strut Barrels intended for the
Experimental & Homebuilt aircraft builder looking to save money. You may
either build your own wing struts from raw materials or re-cycle serviceable strut material
left over from aircraft that have had their struts replaced due to Piper’s wing
strut A.D.
These barrels are built parallel to Piper’s original
print number 12521 which was for the original 7/16 - 20 threaded barrels but
with increased dimensions and materials for the now almost universally used 5/8
-18 fork. You may make your struts “sealed” on the lower end by simply plugging
the upper internal threaded portion or welding on a small circular plate while
fabricating strut. This is a high quality tig welded sub-assembly that may be used to upgrade a Piper style strut or used wherever the Piper style strut to fuselage attach method is used. If you can weld up your fuselage, then you can fabricate your own struts and not be forced to purchase the more expensive STC'd struts for your experimental project. Custom strut fabrication is also available ......... with either new or your verified serviceable strut material ........ must be corrosion and damage free.
