For Sale: A Van's Aircraft RV-9A Quick Build Aircraft Kit. The current owner bought it new from Van's from Aurora, Oregon (still in business and still selling this kit), had it shipped to his location here in Illinois and he has worked on it through the last 13 years toward completion. As it stands, it is roughly 2/3 finished and comes with all parts, a group of additional tools needed to finish it, and all instructions. The plane has been stored in a dry and heated shop, as shown, and has had the best of care. It will still need to have the motor purchased and installed (owner was planning on a Lycoming I/O 320 or 360; but it can take various engines) and an avionics need to be installed. The plane is a two-seater, has a tricycle gear (has a nose wheel, can be changed to a tail dragger), the wings are done (as shown), the fuel tanks were professionally done for him and installed, and there are numerous parts and tools that go with it (pneumatic rivet gun, rivet setting and dimpling tool, bucking bars, tools to twist safety wires), and the box with canopy (wheels, tires, fenders, engine mount, crash roll bar, plumbing parts for fuel and wiring etc...). The retiring owner has roughly 2500 hours in the plane himself, but he considers it enjoyable therapy given his professional life. The plane is in super shape as shown and what work was done was to specifications.*****

ADDED (8/13/18): My client bought the Quick Build Fuselage Kit (RV-9A), Quick Build Tanks Kit, Slow Build Wings and Tail (these are completed and all together). Avionics and engine will still need to be purchased. Plane has single brake option, does have the step kit to get in, has no servo kits for wings etc... (basic cables), and does have electric trim assist for control of the plane. Everything else is there, tools that were purchased in addition, as well as boxes of those rivets to hold curved panels, are also included - plus all directions, schematics, parts lists, etc... Wings are held by a custom dolly of sorts to be able to store them upright and move them around on casters. Horizontal stabilizer etc... is held on temporarily and can easily be removed for transport with a few bolts. Hope that helps, thanks. Dr. Brian

RV-9A info: The Van's RV-9A performance make it useable every day. It is easy to fly and allows low time pilots to make quick and painless transitions. Performance of the plane allows it to use the same airports as other RVs. This plane can easily do long cross-country flights with quick time. The wing distinguishes this plane using a Roncz airfoil. The increased span allows it to climb well with low power and to glide well. The flaps are a long span, slotted, high lift design that allows slower landings than many trainers. The efficient airframe does not need a lot of power to perform well, thus various engine options. The frame will accept the 160 h.p. Lycoming O-320 allowing this plane to become a performance Tiger! Higher speeds and climb rates are available without sacrificing low speed performance or handling. Handling is easy, not mushy or unpleasant, in keeping with offering a more "relaxed" airplane. This plane is suited to those that enjoy more leisurely flying, control forces firmer than other RVs and response rates that are slightly less rapid although giving a sporty feel compared to production aircraft. It is not completely together and running, so a trailer or truck transport is a must. Additional space will be needed for all the parts to the plane.
